Doll Backpack (w/ Pattern!)
Its September, so I decided it is time for a back to school themed project! This mini backpack is really cute and perfect for the new school year. It actually opens so you can put stuff inside! It is made from felt, so it is pretty easy to make. You can add your own fun details and change the color to match your style. The backpack fits Barbie dolls and similar sized dolls. I recomend hand sewing for most/all of the backpack. Read the directions before you make one.
Start by printing this pattern. Then you can cut the pieces from felt. I used brown because I like how it looks like leather on a small scale.
Fold your backpack piece so the two sides by the corner line up with each other. Then sew. I used green embroidery thread because I want the stitches to show.
Fold the felt up and continue sewing around the corner and up the curve.
Repeat on the other side to close both sides. You can turn it right side out now if you want, but I am going to keep mine on this side to show the stitches.
Add velcro on the flap. You can use snaps or buttons instead, but I think velcro will work best for this.
Add any other details on the bag like buttons, patches, and embroidery. I put stitches around the flap.
Take one of the straps you cut earlier. Sew one end onto the back of the bag.
Fold the strap over and sew the other end near the bottom of the backpack.
Sew the other strap on the same way.
Now your doll's backpack is done! Check out how to make miniature books to put inside! You can also put a tissure inside to fill out the shape of the bag.

I like this. I'm going to try shrinking it down to fit my dollhouse dolls!
