DIY Doll Wings
These wings were pretty fun and quick to make, and perfect for a Halloween costume. They are made from paper and are easy to customize. You can change the shape to create a whole different costume like a dragon, bat, or angel. The size is easy to change for different dolls. I think they turned out super cute!
I strongly recomend reading all the instructions before starting the project.
Supplies:
- Cardstock (it can be colorful!)
- Scratch paper for making a pattern
- Elastic
- Hot glue
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Optional: Extra decorations (sequins, markers, extra paper, stickers could all be used)
We will start by making a pattern before the final wings. Take any piece of paper and fold it in half. Leave a little space before the fold, and then start drawing the shape of a wing. Keep in mind the size in comparison to your doll. When you are happy with the shape, cut out both layers from the fold. When you unfold, you should have two wings connected with that extra space in the middle. If you are happy with the final shape, trace the pattern onto cardstock. This will be the color of the final wings, so choose wisely.Cut out the wings. I erased any leftover pencil marks.Fold the wings at the extra space in the middle. So the two wings are sticking up but there is flat space in between. Now would also be a good time to add any decorations on, like drawings or glitter.Cut out two pieces of elastic. They will go around your doll's arms. My pieces are three inches long and I am using a Barbie doll, you need to change the size for different dolls.Using hot glue, attatch one end of an elastic to the top of the center section of the wings.Fold the elastic over and glue the other end to the bottom of the wings.Attatch the other elastic strap next to that one the same way.Your wings are finished! You can put the straps around your doll's shoulders to hold them on. I hope they make give you some ideas for your dolls costume. Thank you for reading, and Happy Halloween!
