I can always use more bookmarks so this is a really useful craft. It is very simple so you can focus on drawing cute faces. I gave my cats lots of different emotions. I love how the little ears stick out of the book when it is closed. You could try making different animals, but I like the cats because their ears are recognizable.
Start with scrap paper so you can get the shape right without making your final paper look messy. Fold your paper.
Draw on the folded part what you want your bookmark to look like. Draw only half of it, and end on the fold.
Cut out along your drawing and unfold so you see the whole shape. If it does not look right you can fold it in half again and adjust.
Now you half the final shape you want your bookmark. Trace onto the paper you want the bookmark to be made of. I am using cardstock. I like when bookmarks are a little thicker because it makes them more durable, but regular paper is okay. Cut out the bookmark.
Sketch the face on. You can also sketch on other details you want.
Trace the face with pen. Then erase the pencil lines.
Color parts if you want. I used a marker to color the nose and ears.
You have the shape already made so making more bookmarks is very quick and easy. You can use colored paper or paper with patterns. Expirement with different faces.
Now that you have your bookmark, you can go read all day long. Have fun! Thanks for reading and I hope you have fun with this idea.

ReplyDeleteThanks, I am glad you like it. You can make a pattern for lots of animals, they just need to have ears that stick up. Most dog ears are floppy so they would be a little hard to make, but you can change the cat ear shape a little to be pointy dog ears. Changing the nose shape in your drawing would help make it look more like a dog.You can also make round bear ears very easily.
