Mini Cat in a Box

This craft is just sooo cute! Cats love boxes. This would definitly make a good decoration if you love cats. There are 2 parts to this project, the box and the cat. The box is definitly much easier, and I have a template for it. The cat is made from clay. You could buy a little cat figure to put in the box, but it will not fit so perfectly. You have to make the box before making the cat, that way you get the cat to sit in the box right.

Cardboard Box:

1: Print this template, and cut it out on thin cardboard.

The box I am using in the instructions is not exactly the same as the template because I had not finished fixing everything, but the instructions will still work with the template.

2: Fold along all the dotted lines.
3: Glue one of the tabs to the flap nect to it. It should make one corner of the box. (use a regular glue stick)
Repeat on the 3 other tabs.
4: Fold the flaps on top down, and the box is finished!
The box was a little deeper then I wanted, because I wanted to use a little less clay for my cat, so I put a little platform inside to make the floor a little higher.

Cat:

I am not that good at breaking how to do clay into steps, so it might be a little unclear. Use polymer clay, and think about how the color contrasts with the cardboard.

Roll the clay into a shape kind of like this, it should sit just below the top of the box.
Add a head on the top of the body. The nose should stick out more than the forhead.
Make little triangles and attatch them to the head for ears.
Add little feet and legs to the body.
Heres what it looks like in the box at this stage.
Add a tail.
Put a face on and add other little details.
Bake your cat acording to the instructions with your clay. Then put the cat in the box!

  1. Cats definitely love boxes! Boswell will choose a cardboard box over his fancy cat tower every time.
