Beanbag Chair Like Thing

Clearly I don't really know what to call this thing... its kind of like a beanbag chair, or an automan. It looks comfy though. Its good for a bedroom. I put it under a loft bed. You need some sewing skills to make this.

Supplies:

  • Fabric (for mine I used cotton. You could use lots of other types though. Flannel might be nice.)
  • Stuffed animal filling
  • something heavy like you put in beanbags. I used corn the kind for popcorn.
  • needle and thread
  • scissors

Find something thats circular and is about the size you want for the chair. Trace it onto paper. You might have to ajust it afterward if you couldn't find something quite right, but the circle still helps you get the right shape. Cut out the circle.

Trace the circle onto your fabric and cut out two. Also cut a strip of fabric.
Sew the strip around one of the circles, right sides together.
Cut the extra fabric from the strip. Then sew the two ends together.

Take the other circle and start sewing it on the other side. Leave an opening and turn right side out.
Add some corn in (thats just what i am using you can use something else). It should be enough to cover the bottom and weigh it down a little, but don't put in very much.
Fill the rest with regular stuffed animal filling. Make sure all the corn stays at the bottom.
Sew shut the opening.
Put a few stitches in the middle through both layers. You don't have to pull it all the way together, you can make it so it goes in only a little bit. The farther you pull the thread the more wrinkled the cushion will get.
Now it's done! You could even add a button to the middle where you scrunch it in. I bet your dolls will be happy to get a comfy place to sit.
