DIY Tassel Keychain

I kinda made up this as I went, so there might be a few photos missing or something. You can choose as many colors of thread as you want, so its really fun. Multicolor thread would be pretty cool too. These are super easy to make so you could do them at a party, or make a bunch for your friends.

Supplies:

  • 2 jump rings. 1 of mine is bigger than the other, but they could be the same size.
  • Embroidery thread (As many colors as you want.)
  • pliers (depending on how hard your jump rings are to bend)
  • Scissors
  • Something to wrap the thread around. I used a wooded block, a peice of cardboard would work well.

Choose your embriodery thread colors. I chose 3 shades of blue.
Wrap your thread around something over and over.
Carfully slide the thread off and keep it in a loop.
Put a jumpring around the loop.
Tie a seperate peice of thread around the 2 sides of the loop right underneath the jumpring. I used matching thread, that way I can just leave the ends long and it will not matter. You could use a color that contrasts, but make sure you hide the ends of the thread. Then cut the looped ends.
Trim the tassel to the length you want and make the ends even. They are already trimmed in the picture above.

Atatch a jumpring to the one at the top. It will make the tassel easier to connect to things, and look more proffessional.
Now its done and ready to put on your keys or backpack or whatever you want! Thanks for reading this and I hope you enjoy making some keychains.
