DIY Mini Bedding (Loft Bed)
I really enjoy making miniature bedding because you can just use scrap fabric. I am making it for a loft bed this time, so I do it slightly differently than I would for a normal bed. I am working on this doll room the bed is in, so you are probably will see more posts about this room. To make the bedding you need some sewing skills.
Comforter
The comforter is pretty much the most important part. Without it, you just have a matress and pillows.
Choose two colors of cotton fabric. White on the inside often looks really great, with a colorful fabric on the outside. You could choose a different combination though. Cut a rectangle out of each of them that is a little bigger than the matress to leave room for the seam.
Put the pieces right sides together. Sew around the outside but leave an opening to turn it right side out.Iron it and iron in the opening. Then hand sew the opening closed.Put the comforter on the matress and fold over the top to however far it looks good. Iron down that fold. The comforter is finished!
Pillows
Pillows use so little fabric and make the bed look more realistic.
Cut out a rectangle. Use white cotton for a really basic bed pillow. Fold it in half and sew around two sides.Turn right side out and iron the edge you did not sew in. Add some stuffed animal stuffing.
Sew together the side that is still open.Make more pillows in other colors, sizes, and fabrics to be decorative.

Pac Man Stuffy
Stuffed animals look great on beds, especially in kid rooms. If you want a more adult vibe, you should leave this off... but if you like pac man you could turn him into a keychain.
Cut out two of these shapes from felt. It is easiest to cut a circle, and then cut out a wedge from it.Start sewing them together. Stop before you get all the way to the end, and add some stuffing in.Then finish sewing around.

That bed is super cute! I think lots of people would like to have a pacman stuffy.
ReplyDeleteThis might be my favorite piece so far! I love pacman. I actually have a haircut very similar to pacman's.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the bunkbed/loft is a perfect fit since ladybugs fly up, and pacman chases things up and down on the screen. Excellent combination of the pacman, the ladybuy, and the quilt's fabric!
I wish my bedroom was as cool as this one! Are you thinking about being anterior designer?
