Witchy

Image
Witchy is a fantasy graphic novel series by Ariel Slamet Ries. Its one of my favorite books. Currently both number one and two are out, and there is a third that is not released yet. I think the art is really pretty. The setting is very interesting, and the main character has a backstory that I think really adds to her motivation. I like that the witches power is determined by their hair length because it makes for really great art and character designs. I would highly recomend this book. The strength of your magic is determined by the length of your hair. Witches that are strong enough are required to join the witch guard, who are responsible for inforcing the laws and protecting the land. Nyneve, a young witch, does not want to join the guard responsible for her father's death. When she gets conscripted, she does the unthinkable; she cuts her own hair. Now, Nyneve will have to face the conseqeunces. Similar Books: Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker Witch Boy by Molly Knox Ostertag Witch...

DIY Braided Crown for a Doll

Image
This braided crown is super cute and it can give dolls a more interesting hair style. You could also add flowers to give it more of a woodsy vibe. You can take it off when you want a different hairstyle. It is pretty fast to make if you know how to braid already. I used the same yarn my doll's hair is made of so it looks like it is braided into her hair. You could try yarn wefts or synthetic hair to, but I don't know how well it would work. If you don't have the exact hair color then try to find a close match. Here is what the crown looks like on a doll without matching hair: Please read all the directions before making one so you know what to expect and plan for. The supplies you need are: Yarn Hot glue wire scissors wire cutters and needle nose pliers  Start by bending your wire around your dolls head. Then you can bend the ends so they can't damage the head/hair. You can reshape it a bit to make a nicer headband shape. Make sure it stays on the dolls head and is no...

Image
The Lumberjanes is a graphic novel series by ND Stevensen, Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Brooke Allen, Kat Leyh, and Faith Erin Hicks. There may be more authors because there are so many books and special editions by different authors, but I know I got the main ones. I really enjoyed lumberjanes, and it is funny. The setting is very interesting and I like it when I know where the characters are, so I really liked that part. I liked that there were lots of characters that were relatable. The fantasy is pretty unique and interesting, and there is something new in each book. I would recomend to anyone who likes mystery, fantasy, or realistic fiction graphic novels. I know realistic fiction and fantasy are very different, but I feel like both are genres it definitly fits. Scout is Not a Band kid

Image
Scout is Not a Band Kid by Jade Armstrong is a realistic fiction graphic novel. I liked the characters, and they felt relatable to me. I also liked how lighthearted the story was, while still including some difficult things. The art was very cute and colorful. Scout is desperate to meet her favorite author, and her last chance could be at a festival later that year. So, Scout decides to join her school's band when she finds out their field trip is at the same location. But it turns out being in band, without knowing how to play an instrument, is not as easy as Scout thought it would be, especially when your in a section with Merrin, the most serious musician in the band.
