Monster High Dolls

Image
I decided I would make some posts about dolls I like to use. I will describe these dolls, what I like about them, and things I use them for. I like to make clothes and sometimes accessories for dolls, you might have seen some other posts about it. Recently I have been using fashion dolls, mostly Barbie and Monster High.  Monster High is one of my favorite types of dolls. They are similar to Ever After High. They are supposed to be the children of classic monster characters, and there are shows (which I have not watched) about them so they all have characters. They usually have a goth style. They are extremely skinny with long legs and large heads. There are lots of distinct face molds. Because they are supposed to be monsters, they have features like fangs and ears, and many of the dolls have colorful skin and hair. The regular dolls are 10 1/2 inches tall. There is also the big sister, little sister and boy dolls which are different sizes. The clothes the dolls come with are ...

Wynd

Image
Wynd by James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas is a fantasy graphic novel series. It is full of great characters and the world seems very interesting. I would be interested in seeing another book set in the same world! It has great drawings. I love this series, my only problem is that the story does not feel finished, it seems like there should be another book. I still strongly recomend though, and it is one of my favorites. If you like fantasy adventures and graphic novels, this book is for you. In Pipetown, magic is forbidden. Wynd, a teenager who lives in Pipetown, has been able to conceal his true identity until now, but when the threat of death, or worse, grows too big, Wynd, and a group of other teens, leave Pipetown. The danger isn't over yet though. Similar books: Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi Estranged by Ethan M. Finished Doll Room Tour! (Cottagecore Bedroom)

Image
I have been working on this doll room a few weeks ago, and it has been really fun. I haven't made a whole room for a while. I decided to go with a cottagecore asthetic. I think this room turned out adorable and I am really satisfied with it. I am also happy to have another room to take photos in. You may have noticed some things from the past few posts in this room. Here is a photo with a ruler to show the scale of the room and furniture. The room itself is 9 1/2 inches by 5 inches. It is pretty small, so most of the space is filled by the bed. You can see how I made the flooring in my  doll house floor tricks  post. It is the second method with the crayons. The bed frame is made from balsa wood I hot glued glued together. I chose this brown floral pattern for the  bedding.  It was hard to choose what fabric I wanted, but I thought the brown was nice and neutral, but also contrasted with the light colors. The teddy bear is made from pom poms I glued together. You can ...

DIY Mini Lamp

Image
Little bedside lamps add a lot to miniature rooms. It feel more like someone could live there. You can change the style of the lamp really easily just be changing the bead you use for the base. It does not actually light up, it is just a decoration. I recomend reading through all the instructions so you know what to expect before making the lamp. Cut out a half circle from cardstock. This will be the lamp shade.  Fold it so the strait side is touching itself. It should be in a cone shape. Glue so it stays. Cut off the top point so there is a small hole in the top. I also evened out the bottom. Choose what bead you want for the base. It should be a pretty big bead, and stand up on its own easily. This will determine most of the style of the lamp, so make sure it looks good in the room. Usually the bead is not tall enough, so I hot glued another bead on top. This one won't show, so I don't worry about it looking to pretty. Hot glue the lamp shade on top of the beads. The ...

DIY Mini Picture Frames

Image
These miniature pictures make good decorations for doll rooms. They are also pretty fast and easy to make, and don't need fancy supplies for. You can make ones to hang on the wall, or sit on a shelf or table. It is also easy to change the size. Because picture frames are so common in real houses, I think these make a really great addition to a doll room. Supplies: Paper (preferably thick, but computer paper works fine to) Glue stick Scissors Photos, drawings, coloring pages, etc. Clear packing tape or contact paper Ruler (optional) Pencil (optional) Start by choosing what you want to be in the picture frame. Keep in mind the size you want. You could use sections from calenders or magazines, or paint something yourself, you could also use something from a coloring book. Really, the possibilities are endless! Cut out your picture to the size you want. Keep the sides as strait as you can. Take your packing tape and stick it on top of the photo. This adds a clear, shiny layer. Cut th...

DIY Marbled Clay Earrings

Image
These earrings are really quick and fun to make, and you can use any color you want. I like how simple they look because you can where them with more stuff. You can also make different sizes very easily. They are made from polymer clay.  1. Choose 2-5 colors for your earrings. The colors do mix some, so beware of using contrasting colors. I am using pink, white, and purple for this pair. I took equal amounts of white and pink, but less purple because I didn't want it to be the main color. 2. Roll your clay out into long snakes. Make sure they are all the same length. 3. Twist the clay together. Then roll it again so they are pressed together. 4. Twist it again in different ways and roll together again. Repeat a few times to make it more mixed, but not to much that they become one color. 5. When you feel the clay is mixed enough, split it into two equal amounts. Roll them into balls. 6. Press both balls flat. Make sure they are the same size and even circles. 7. Use a piece of wire ...
