Shrinky Dink Earrings

Image
I love to make adorable earrings for myself. I often use beads, clay, or... shrinky dink! It is very easy to make earrings with. Usually shrinky dink is clear, so if you don't want to draw yourself, it is very easy to trace. If you don't have peirced ears you can still have lots of fun making charms. Start by deciding what charm you want. Don't be afraid to make asemetrical earrings. If you need some inspiration you can start by looking at my picture on the top of the page, and look at your own earrings. You can also look up pictures on google. Because earrings are so small, choose simple drawings so you can see them once they shrink. Once you decide what to make, decide if you will draw it yourself or trace someone else's drawing. For my narwhale earings I drew the picture. I drew on paper first. Make sure your drawings is bigger than earrings because it will shrink. Place your shrinky dink over the drawing. Trace. I am using a black colored pencil. If your earings a...

Miniature Messenger Bag w/ Pattern

Image
I really love making these little bags because it is fun and easy to decorate them. This project is made from felt, which is an easy fabric to work with. I hand sewed the whole thing. I used brown felt to look like leather and visible stitches to make it look home-made and have a fairy asthetic. You can change it to fit your own style pretty easily by changing the color, decorations, and type of stitches. The bag fits dolls around 11 inches, like monster high, barbie, rainbow high and other fashion dolls. Look through all the directions before you start. Print out the pattern below. Then trace onto felt and cut out. Sew on a snap (or a different closure if you prefer) to the front of the bag. Don't worry about the flap yet. Add any decorations to the front. Keep in mind how much the flap will cover, and leave a little more than a qaurter inch before the tabs so the embelishments don't end up on the bottom. I put a button on this bag. Fold the tab so the short part lines up wi...

Washi Tape Pens

Image
I really love to decorate things with washi tape. There are so many fun patterns and colors! Pens are one thing I have been decorating recently. I like them because it is something you will actually use. You want the pen you are decorating to be easy to stick the tape too. You can also decorate pencils the same way, but because they have to be sharpened I prefer pens.  Supplies: washi tape scissors pen Start by choosing your tape colors. For this first pen I am going to use just one color. Make sure the end of the tape is a strait edge. You can use scissors to help. Place the end just above the cap of the pen. Take the cap off your pen and place it on the back, like you are about to write something. Stick the tape down farther up the pen. Cut just below the cap. You can place the cap back on the pen now. I used a second piece of tape to cover the rest of the pen. Line it up with the first piece. It does not have to be exact. Your pen might need a different amount of tape to ...
